History and Legacy

A heritage academic identity with modern institutional systems

The college traces its origin to early teacher-education reforms following Wood's Despatch of 1854 and was established in 1906 under the leadership of its first principal, Mr. J. N. Fraser.

After independence, STC became part of the Government of Maharashtra educational system and later joined Dr. Homi Bhabha State University as part of Maharashtra's first cluster university framework. Its classified heritage building, historic library, multilingual academic environment, and teacher-training focus continue to shape its public role.
